· We are pleased to announce that Carol A. Cesaretti has became partner.  We are also pleased to announce that Carolyn E. Kang has joined the firm as an associate.

 

· After a 1 week jury trial, Terry Madden recently received a not guilty verdict in favor of a Chicago chiropractor in a malpractice case tried in Cook County. The plaintiff claimed that the chiropractor was negligent in performing chiropractic adjustments to treat complaints of neck pain and that as a result, he had 2 cervical fusion surgeries. Plaintiff asked for $620,000 in damages. Terry successfully argued that the chiropractor treated the neck complaints properly.

· Richard Lenkov was invited to be a member of Northern Illinois University College of Law Board of Visitors. The Board of Visitors is an advisory board whose purposes include, but are not limited to, increasing awareness of the College of Law and providing a valuable linkage between the college and the community. The Board of Visitors is composed of judges, lawyers, law faculty from other schools, and persons interested in the Northern Illinois University College of Law.

 

 

Current Events

Carol Cesaretti spoke at the Illinois State Bar Association seminar on "Back to Basics" for Workers' Compensation held in Chicago on February 11, 2008.  Carol spoke on the topic of Initial Case Analysis - a step-by-step guide to initial case analysis for the respondent.

 

Geoffrey Bryce has presented “Insurance: The Moving Target” with Thilman and Filippini on February 27, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

 

Robert Bramlette has presented “Growing Your Business in a Difficult Economy” on March 13, 2008 at 8:00 a.m.—10:45 am.

 

Richard Lenkov has presented at Frankenmuth Insurance on March 13, 2008 “Investigating Subrogation and Disability”

· Richard Lenkov to Speak at National Workers’ Compensation Conference

 

Richard Lenkov has again been chosen to speak at SEAK’s 28th Annual National Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Medicine Conference.  The conference will be held on Cape Cod, in Hyannis, Massachusetts from July 15 to 17, 2008.

 

Rich will be presenting the topic “Turning the Tables:  How To Use An Employee’s Own Actions As A Defense To Their Workers’ Compensation Claim.”  This presentation will be held at 2:40 p.m. on July 16, 2008.  It promises to be an interesting discussion on how to craft seldom-used defenses to put your case in the best position for a victory.
